Learning Mindsets & Skills MOOC
For the last year I’ve been working with the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, the Raikes Foundation, and Coursera to design a massive open online course around the subject of “Learning Mindsets & Skills” (aka Student Agency, aka Academic Mindsets). This is the fourth MOOC that I’ve worked on, and I am proud to say that this is the best one we have ever designed. The LMS MOOC employs the Coursera On-Demand platform which allows users the ability to start the course at any time that they want to, as well as collaborate with a cohort of peers that are synchronized with the users who start at the same, or similar times.
Here is some more information about the Learning Mindsets & Skills MOOC. Let me know what you think!
High Tech High Graduate School of Education is proud to present the launch of the Learning Mindsets & Skills MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). The Learning Mindsets & Skills MOOC is a three week course designed to explore underlying concepts behind learning mindset work and theory within educational environments as well as the the practical applications of those concepts. Course Participants will hypothesize a learning mindset-related change to be implemented within their educational environment, test their theory, and present their findings to a wider audience. Each week of the course will include podcasts, readings, videos, and interactive assignments that enable participants to personalize their course experience. Course guest experts include Dr. Camille Farrington (University of Chicago), Eduardo Briceño (Mindset Works), Elliot Washor & Carlos Moreno (Big Picture Learning), Gia Truong (Envision Schools), Barbara Chow (Hewlett Foundation), and Anna Kawar & Rachel Beattie (Carnegie Foundation).
We are currently looking for pilot schools to embark on the MOOC as a three week portion of their staff professional development. If you are a school leader that is interested in enrolling your staff, a small group or the entire staff, please contact us immediately for more information so we can organize your professional development experience.
